Charles Dyce was an amateur artist of the 19th century, making visual and written records of places he visited. This book is a collection of his work from the National University of Singapore Museums and covers his travels in Singapore, Malacca, Penang and Batavia. Among the paintings are views of the land from a ship's deck, trading towns, colonial settlements and beautiful countryside.
