Lee Cheng Yong Retrospective
Edited by
Tan Chee Khuan
Until this 1996 retrospective exhibition, Lee Cheng Yong was one of the forgotten pioneers of modern Malaysian art. A Penang art teacher, his paintings and sculpture were influenced by Chinese brush art, French impressionism and German expressionism. He also had the distinction of being only the second Malaysian artist to hold a solo exhibition. This 40 page catalogue, besides appreciations by Lee Joo For and the editor, contains 20 pages of coloured plates of his paintings, two pages each of black and white plates of his sculptures and his drawings respectively.
