This catalogue provides a detailed tour of one of the largest collections of ancient Chinese textiles in the world, built up over a period of 30 years before they were exhibited in Singapore. The collection focuses on the dress of Chinese rulers down the ages and comprises several unique pieces. There are approximately 90 pages of essays on the subject followed by a description of each of the 152 exhibits with an accompanying colour photograph. The book ends with appendices on Transcriptions and Translations of Inscriptions, The Ming System of Rank Insignia, a Chronology of China, An Illustrated Glossary of Technical Terms of Textiles, a bibliography and an index of Chinese Terms. Condition: The cover has lost its original freshness and has four or five tiny brown specks on the front. There are three light creases on the spine. Some of the pages have very faint tanning at the margin edges. The text block has a couple of scuffs. There is a price sticker on the back cover. Otherwise The binding is tight, the text clear and there is no tanning of the pages.
