In 1991 Wawasan 2020 or Vision 2020 was launched by the then prime minister of Malaysia, Mahathir Mohamad, which he intended to be a goal of a self-sufficient industrialised nation and other lofty ideals by the year 2020. By the time this book was written, it was becoming obvious to many that the country was unlikely to reach these targets. The author nevertheless makes recommendations in the areas of tackling corruption, human resource development, religious harmony and democracy in the hope that the goals would be achieved.
