The war diaries of a British civilian internee, a civil engineer with 30 years' service in Malaya. Although he managed to record one of the most complete contemporaneous accounts of the experiences of European civilian prisoners at the time, he did not survive to see the liberation of Singapore, dying of cancer in the camp in 1944.
