New. This book was originally written and illustrated in late 1942 by two Australian prisoners of war of the Japanese at Singapore's Changi Jail for the benefit of children detained with their parents. The Japanese became suspicious when they discovered that the book's key character, a cicak or lizard, is named Winston and prevented delivery of the book which was hidden by the authors until after the war. The book was not published until 1991. The story, set in Malaya, is about the adventures of Winston, Martin, the monkey and Wobbley, the frog. 32 pages.
