Enriquez was a natural adventurer of the late British colonial period. Born in India and educated in England, he joined the Indian Army, but eventually moved to Burma and then to Malaya before returning to Burma to retire. Wherever he went he wrote evocative accounts of the people and the wildlife he came across. This account, first published in 1927, is of his ascent of Mount Kinabalu in present day Sabah and still remains an ideal introduction for any visitor to the area. K. M. Wong has written an introduction. 95 pages.
