For company he not only has his fellow pilgrims, or Hajjis, but also fifteen other Hajjis, both converts like him and Muslims by birth, ranging from the 11th to the 20th centuries, who have made the same pilgrimage in the past and kept journals as well. As Gibby goes through the rituals he compares notes with his literary companions to give a rounded picture of the whole experience. New Hardback.
