N. Jayaram (ed)
A collection of contributions looking at the diversity of the Indian diaspora. One principal divide is, of course, 'the old diaspora' mainly of indentured labour, but not always so, and 'the new diaspora' which is often middle class and university educated. The contributors look at both the diaspora generally and individual groups e.g. Brahmins, Jains, Punjabis and Sikhs, and areas of settlement, e.g. French Overseas Territories, Malaysia, Mauritius and Southeast Asia generally. 250 pages with some figures and tables. New Paperback Reprint.
