This is an unusual book in that it tells the stories of a minority, the Brahmin community, amongst a larger minority, the Malayan Indian Community. Whereas the majority of Malaya's Indians were of lower castes and ended up on plantations, this small group, even thought it was against their beliefs to travel overseas, found employment outside the estates, often in clerical roles or in education. This book contains short biographies, often related by their descendants, of this group about whom very little has been written in English New Paperback First Edition. 402 pages with several, mainly black and white photographs
