Cook was a District Officer in North Borneo for about eight years, returning to England in 1920. This is his memoir of his time there. He served in the Tenom, Kaningau, Semporna, Tuaran, Kota Belud, North Keppel and Labuk and Sugut districts. The experience obviously made a significant impression on him as for some years after his return to the UK he wrote short stories based on his experience in Sabah. 286 pages.
