This book explores a neglected side of the story of Subhas Chandra Bose, an important Indian nationalist who linked up with the Japanese during World War II. That alliance brought him to Singapore in 1943 to provide inspiration to his Indian National Army, made up mainly of ex-members of the British Indian Army. Sengupta argues that, amongst other things, his presence in the area gave new inspiration to Indians which translated into increased political and union activity in the years following the war's end. 260 pages with some black and white photographs, a bibliography and an index.
