aftermath of World War II, when the last Brooke rajah ceded power, Abell was the
third British Governor of the colony following the assassination of his
predecessor. This book through archive photographs and local newspaper cuttings
tell how Abell restored calm, oversaw the development the Brookes had neglected
and worked with nascent politicians to plot the colony's future. 155 and 168
