Although most residents of and visitors to Penang often revel at the wide range of 19th and early 20th century buildings that make up the town centre, few are aware of the equally wide range of traditional crafts that are still essential to maintaining Penang's unique character. This book is the result of a three year pilgrimage amongst more than 50 crafts people from cast net and trishaw makers to kolam artists and rattan chair weavers.
