Three Came Home
by
Agnes Newton Keith
New. This is the second book in the author's trilogy about her experiences in North Borneo under three different governments, the Chartered Company until the outbreak of World War II, the Japanese and finally the British Crown. Here we have the author's graphic account of her years imprisoned by the Japanese. The record is all that more authentic because it is based on notes that she made at the time and managed to keep safe until the end of the war. Despite her and her very young son's suffering she was able to see her war time experiences in perspective. In her preface she writes, "The Japanese...are as the war made them, not as God did, and this is true of the rest of us." 316 pages.
