The Glanville Women
by
Dulcie Gray
The author, a British stage and screen actress, was born in Kuala Lumpur, in then Malaya, in 1919 and lived in the country long enough to become a headmistress of a school at the age of sixteen! She draws on some of her early memories and her acting experience to write this 'panoramic saga' which spans from life in Malaya up to the Japanese occupation and dramas on the West end stage. The principal characters, the Glanville women, are a mother, daughter and grand-daughter with three decidedly different characters.
