The Bamboos of the Malay Peninsula

R.E. Holttum

Holttum, director of the Botanic Gardens Singapore from 1925 to 1949, provides in this monograph an extensive review of bamboos found on the peninsula. He begins with a general introduction to the plant, explains the classification of Malayan bamboos and then moves onto a detailed description of each type, its habitat and uses. Most of the species are illustrated by line drawings. This is a reprint from the Gardens' Bulletin, Singapore Volume XVI, August 1958. 135 pages.
