Tainted Glory
by
Ho Thean Fook
The author was a guerilla who worked with British special forces during the Japanese occupation of Malaya. Unlike many of his comrades, he did not then join the insurrection against British colonial rule after the war, choosing instead to become a bank official. He waited until his retirement to write his account of what life was really like for a foot soldier working to loosen the Japanese grip on the country. He bided his time so as to be able to reflect and set the record strait after more fanciful accounts of the period written shortly after the harrowing events. 263 pages.
