The book, originally published in English in 1931, purports to be the autobiography of a plainclothes Malay policeman recruited from boyhood to work undercover. In the introduction the author says he withholds his name to protect himself and others and yet there is apparently a photo of the diminutive author standing next a towering Englishman as the frontispiece. That said, the book gives an interesting insight to undercover police work in Malaya before the First World War, in the first World War in France and then back in Malaya tackling the beginnings of Communism. The book was sufficiently popular to translated into French shortly after its original English publication. Very Good Paperback. First French Language edition 235 pages
