An attempt by Singapore's Minsitry of Culture to produce a showcase of the work of the country's major artists. Three examples, illustrated here in colour, were chosen from 48 artists, painters and sculptors. They were chosen based on the artist having had a significant national exhibition, an identifiable style, an innovative approach, consistent output in the four years prior to publication and being a Singaporean national or permanent resident.
