Revisiting Rural Places:
Pathways to Poverty and Prosperity in Southeast Asia
Jonathan Rigg
-
This book is the outcome of an interesting exercise where scholars of agrarian change revisited sites of their previous research to determine what had changed and whether their previous predictions had been accurate. The results were often startling. Families trapped in poverty became unexpectedly prosperous and conversely, well off families had been impoverished. As a result the authors re-assess their original premises in order to inform future research in this area. 351 pages with figures, tables, appendices, a bibliography and an index.
