In the course of their sea journey to Japan their boats were sunk by US submarines. Two thousand Allied prisoners had to fight the Japanese guards and the perilous conditions in the sea to survive. Condition: The spine is creased, but there is little other cover wear. The text block is tanned and spotted. There is heavy spotting of the first and the last three pages or so of the book. Otherwise the binding is tight and there is mild tanning throughout.
