This monograph details the results of excavations at Kota Batu, the epicentre of a powerful sultanate for many centuries before it was subdued by the Spanish in the mid sixteenth century. One of the most remarkable features of the work at the site was the discovery of remains of wooden items from the iron age which expanded existing knowledge on the lives of the early inhabitants of the island of Borneo.
