Phoenix Rising, Pioneering Chinese Women of Malaysia
--
Ho Tak Ming
The author argues that Chinese women who emigrated to Malaya, and their descendants, blossomed in a way that they were unable to do in China because, at least in theory, they were all equal under the law thanks to British legislation in the colony. To prove his point he gives the reader a selection of of snapshots of the lives of some of these women, who became entrepreneurs in their own right and distinguished professionals. 203 pages.
