The compiler of this book was a former editor of the Singapore Chronicle. The book consists of articles on various aspects of topography and life in Southeast Asia contributed to the newspaper by John Crawfurd, a colleague of Raffles and prolific writer on the archipelago. It was meant to be the first part of a two volume work, but the second volume was never published. Good Hardback. Facsimile Reprint. Originally published in 1837. Approximately 400 pages With six pull out maps of Singapore Town, The Indian Archipelago, The Coti River in Borneo,Malacca Territory, A Chart of the Singapore and Rhio Straits and a Map of Price of Wales Island and Province Wellesley.

Condition : The cloth cover, principally the spine, has suffered from insect attack in the past. The binding is tight, text clear and there is minimal tanning throughout.
