The author first became interested in the 220 square mile area of Naning, in the Northern part of the State of Melaka, while he was a colonial civil servant during the last days of British colonial rule in the area. While there and subsequently, his research has enabled him to compile this detailed local history of the area and the customs of the inhabitants that had developed during that history. 761 pages.
