This novel is an adventure set in the Malayan jungle during the 'Emergency.' However unlike in many other such novels, the conflict serves mainly as a backdrop to the relationship struggles suffered by a group searching for a body of the husband of one of the party and coping with all that the jungle had to offer. The author himself was lost for a week in the Johor jungles without food or a compass and obviously uses his memory of this experience to add authenticity to this dramatic novel. 220 pages.
