Traditionally mak yong (mak yung) is a form of dance and acting which was mainly practiced in Kelantan, formerly part of Thailand's Patani Province. As a result of the author's submissions, mak yong was designated by UNESCO as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Mankind in 2005. Unfortunately it is a tradition that is in steady decline following the banning of its public performance in its native Kelantan because it is deemed by the Government there to be "unsuitable for a Muslim audience." This is at least the third book of the author published on the subject and the most lavishly illustrated with both black and white and colour photographs. 134 pages. New Hardback. First Edition.
