The purpose of the work was to examine the state of soils suitable for paddy farming on both the East and West coasts of the peninsula and then to recommend measures needed to modify the soil's characteristics so as to increase productivity. 154 pages with four pages of colur illustrations on the investigative process, four appendices and numerous tables and charts.
