This is the second revision of a group of short stories written by Raymer that were originally published in 1993, revised again for another publisher in 2005 and now we have the third version with yet another publisher. That publishing history indicates the popularity of the stories written by an expatriate who's been in Malaysia for more than 20 years, but, unlike most similar expatriates, he's lived within ordinary Malaysian communities most of the time. This gives his stories a special quality. Their slant is not exactly the slant that most Malaysians writing in English would give, but the stories don't have the slant of a disconnected outsider as well. Raymer is also a professional teacher of creative writing and several of these stories are part of Malaysian universities' curricula today. 228 pages.
