Kuala Lumpur 1880-1895: A City in the Making
With about half a dozen books about Kuala Lumpur's history to his name, Gullick was the principal historian in English of the city in the latter part of the 20th century. This reprint of a 1955 monograph was his original work on the subject. Although the early days described here might appear to bear little relationship to the sprawling metropolis of today, both settlements shared at least one common characteristic - a rapid growth with which administrators found it difficult, if not impossible, to keep up. 173 pages.
