Coinciding with the publication of the the full Memorials of Jacques de Coutre, a Flemish gem trader who travelled about Southeast Asia in the early 17th century, this companion volume contains extracts from the larger work. The account gives an idea of life in the Straits of Melaka at a time for which there is little written surviving material. 125 pages with a glossary, list of place names and a bibliography. The book also has a few black and white plates and maps.
