Chinese in the West Borneo Goldfields
---
Robert C Jackson
A welcome study of a neglected part of the Chinese diaspora, intrepid gold miners who arrived in West Borneo before the Dutch or the British had taken much interest in the area. Gold had been mined in and exported from what is now known as Kalimantan Barat for centuries, but never in very great quantities. That changed with a mini gold rush from the mid 18th to early 19th centuries when one of the largest Chinese communities in Indonesia was established. 88 pages.
