The Wonder That Was Ancient Kedah
Most histories of Malaysia begin with the Sultanate of Melaka founded in the 15th century, despite the fact that it is fairly obvious to any student of Asian history that the country has had the benefit of a strong Indian influence in the past. Ironically even the term 'bumiputera' coined to denote indigenous peoples, rather than immigrants, is easily recognised as being derived entirely from Sanskrit. This book provides part of the answer, as the author, a native of the state of Kedah, known to its early inhabitants as Kadaram, demonstrates that an Indianised civilisation existed in the north of the peninsula no later than the 5th century AD. With a foreword by Khoo Kay Kim 135 pages. For further details, please see the scanned contents page.
