This is the record of a fascinating project by the museum whereby over several years they had invited traditional boat builders to construct boats on the museum premises so as to be able to better understand the construction process of Viking longboats. In the past the museum had hosted craftsmen from Northern Europe and North America, but this time they invited a boat builder from the Punan Bah people of Sarawak. The first part of the book describes the Punan Bah people and their culture, the second part describes the detailed process of building a Punan Bah longboat and the third part places the longboat in a wider historical context. New Hardback. 147 pages with a glossary and a bibliography.
