Given that urban centres, such as Petaling Jaya, where this research was carried out, has a high concentration of health resources, the author explores the extent to which squatter communities have access to such resources. The study not only looks at the changing nature of squatter communities before and after independence, but also at the higher rates of illness in such communities due to the lack of basic amenities. 112 pages with several tables and a bibliography.
