A Daughter Remembers
Li Lien Fung
The author was born in China when her father had already set off to the USA to seek his fortune leaving his wife and family behind. He was successful and apparently re-married leaving the family in China to fend for themselves. The author takes us through her disjointed family history, disruped by parting, war and revolution as the the different bits of their family make good in the US, Singapore and Hong Kong. Much of what happened to her parents was kept hidden from Li, but in this tumultuous story she manages to discover a fascinating family history. 370 pages.
