Although a missionary, the author sets out to give "a complete account of the entire field of Sea Dyak life". In doing so he he does manage the most complete account of Iban life at the beginning of the twentieth century. Unlike similar, more brief, accounts by missionaries, he limits his missionary fervour to only parts of two of the book's twenty-four chapters. This is a facsimile reprint. 343 pages with about 40 black and white photographs and an index.
