The classic work on the trees of Malaya completed by Corner while he was Assistant Director of the Botanical gardens, Singapore between 1929 and 1945. The first edition was published almost as the Japanese were arriving on the peninsula. The first volume is divided into four parts. Part I - Is a general description of the different types of trees to be found in Malaya, Descriptive terms, the different types of vegetation to be found and trees more common in particular states, Part II - Keys to Identification of Trees, Part III Descriptions of Families, Genera and Species & Part IV - Indices to English names, Malay Names, Botanical Names and to Botanical and Descriptive Terms. 772 pages. There are numerous line drawings interspersed within the text of the first volume. The second volume contains 228 black and white plates and an index of the plates. Weight : 2.8 kg. Post free within Malaysia. But due to its weight, this book is likely to incur additional postal charges when posted outside Malaysia.
Condition : The dust jackets have minimal rubbing and stains on the spines. 0f the jackets, but they have not permeated through to the book covers. The inside covers and the text blocks have spotting and there is occasional spotting on the top margin on some of the other pages. Otherwise The binding is tight, text clear and there is mild tanning throughout.
