One of Malaysia's foremost scholar activists started writing this 236 page book while in detention under Malaysia's Internal Security Act in the 1970s and was eventually able to have the book published some 30 years later in 2008. Unusually for a book published in Malaysia, this book went into its third printing within a couple of years of when it was originally published. This demonstrates that he has a readership that wants to get to grips with the mighty task of bringing Malaysia from a society where race is central to politics to one where greater multiculturalism is achieved.
