The author, a retired police superintendent with experience of the Malayan 'Emergency', sets down a mainly factual record of the period in the state of Perak. Roughly a third of the book is made up of anecdotal experiences of serving military and police personnel involved in the Government's campaign.The remainder of the book is packed with statistics of incidents in the conflict in Perak, of those killed in action and injured amongst Government forces and includes maps and details of places and activities of commemoration.
