Although the author claims that this book is an 'introduction' to this iconic weapon of the Malay world, it is probably one of the most comprehensive books on the subject in English. He covers details such as the origins, manufacture, decorations and the different types of weapon to be found in Indonesia and the Philippines. Although the weapon has considerable significance in Malay culture, the author, like others, confirms it was not a very effective fighting weapon. Very Good Hardback in a Very Good Dust Jacket.
