Although Abdullah Hussain eventually settled down as a writer a senior member of the Malaysian publishing house, Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka, he led a fairly colourful life before then. Although he was born in Kedah and started off life as a store assistant, he managed to fit in being a Japanese spy, a police superintendent and freedom fighter in Indonesia, some more spells in various commercial enterprises in Malaysia and Thailand, a magazine editor and much else before then. This novel is part of a trilogy, which mix thrills, humour and tragedy and is based on his varied and exciting experiences. The book is written in Malay. 380 pages. Very Good Paperback.
