This detailed and interesting snapshot of Singapore's population was the outcome of the republic's 1966 census.The purpose of the exercise was to establish the size, demographic structure, social and housing conditions as well as means of earning a living of the population. There are 8 pages of introduction followed by 300 pages of tables and a planning map at the end of the book. Apart from the population numbers and ethnic groups of the island, this book contains information on utility supply and type, current and completed education, types of employment, ownership of vehicles, electrical equipment used etc.
