Rhetoric of Racial Harmony
In this study the author sets himself an unusual, but interesting, task - to examine the speeches of Tunku Abdul Rahman, the political leader of the majority Malay population, of Tan Cheng Lock and of VT Sambanthan, the respective leaders of the Chinese and Indian communities at the time, all three of whom joined together to form the first Government of the newly independent Malaya. He examines what he calls the 'fantasy themes' of each leader, their plans of action and an assessment as to how each politician's vision was transformed into reality. 114 pages.
