An interesting study on the power relationship between Malaya and its former colonial rulers in the first decade after Malayan independence. The cornerstone of British policy was the Anglo-Malayan Defence Agreement which committed the British, together with their Australian and New Zealand allies, to military support of Malaya which manifested itself principally during the 'Emergency' in Malaya and the Confrontation with Indonesia. It was a period when Britain still had delusions of colonial grandeur, which were forced to face reality shortly after the period covered in this book. Good Hardback in a Very Good Dust Jacket.
