British North Borneo
The author was an employee of the North Borneo Chartered Company, a private enterprise, which controlled present day state of Sabah from 1882 to the Japanese Invasion in 1942. In this book he sets out what he sees as the effects of the first 40 years of the company's administration as well as giving a detailed survey of the country in the early 20th century. 404 pages with black and white plates and a fold out coloured map. Condition: The cover, now protected in a plastic jacket, has few signs of wear. A previous owner's name is written neatly on a front end paper. The first and the last few pages have a fair amount of spotting and there is more occasional mild spotting elsewhere in the book. Otherwise he binding is tight and there is mild tanning throughout. The fold out map is pristine (see picture) except for a very small tear at the border where it is attached to the book.
