A Malay-English Dictionary (Romanised)

 RJ Wilkinson

More than 50 years after the publication of Wilkinson's magnum opus of a Malay-English dictionary in English and the Malay Jawi and Rumi scripts, this work confines itself to English and the Rumi (Romanised) script. The is an interesting short preface where the compiler explains "how he came 'to take up so dull a hobby' as writing dictionaries. In this reprint of the Macmillan 1959 edition both volumes have been bound together so that the first volume covers the Malay letters A to K, while the second volume covers the remainder of the alphabet. As in the original volumes, Wilkinson, where known, gives the origins of the words defined. There is also a short bibliography. 1298 pages.
