The Picador Book of
Contemporary Chinese Fiction
Edited by
Carolyn Choa & David Su Li-Qun
This is a collection of short stories and extracts from novels of Chinese writers, many of whose works have not previously been translated into English. All of the writers except one were living and writing in China at the time this book was published so the reader can take a break from the expatriate angst that flavours much Chinese writing in English today. More than a dozen different authors' contributions fill the book's 308 pages. There are also short biographies of the authors.
