Tales Of The Malayan Coast
Rounsevelle Wildman
Wildman was a US Diplomat based in Singapore at the end of the 19th century when he wrote this book, mainly a collection of reminiscences of his time there and in the state of Johore. While his style of account is fairly simplistic, there are nevertheless insights into both colonial and kampong life that could cause the reader to reflect on what has or hasn't changed in the last 100 years. 347 pages

Condition: Very Good Hardback. The cover has lost its original brightness, but the gilt lettering on the spine and the decoration especially on the cover is still strong. The gilt edging to the top text block is also evident. There is an owner's plate on the inside front cover indicating that the book is from the library of Mary Carr Curtis, the first headmistress of Treacher Methodist Girls' School, Taiping. The binding is tight, the text is clear and there is very mild tanning throughout. A special copy.
